What are the battery requirements for Turo?

For Turo, the 12V battery must be five years old or less (a requirement in effect since December 4, 2023). To pass, the battery must show proof of age (a sticker or manufacturing date) or pass a voltage verification check.

• Finding the date: locate the manufacturing details on the physical battery. For vehicles 2021 or older, the date must be identified on the battery during the inspection.
• If the date isn't accessible or your car is newer: a multimeter is required to pass the voltage check. If we can't verify the battery as under five years old and you don't have a multimeter, the inspection will fail — unless you return with proof or a multimeter reading.
• Third-party reports are not accepted (an AutoZone or O'Reilly's report won't work); Turo requires the battery to be tested during the inspection with your inspector watching.
